Stainless Steel Alloy 309
High Temperature Stainless
An austenitic stainless developed specifically for high temperature corrosion resistance. It resists oxidation to 1,900°F under non cyclic conditions, and its high chromium and low nickel content let it work in sulfur bearing atmospheres to 1,832°F. Not the right choice for highly carburizing atmospheres, where its carbon absorption resistance is only moderate. It fabricates by standard shop methods and welds easily, and it’s our high temperature tool wrap option.
